4 Days | Safari Escape

From $950 USD* | 4 Days | Wildlife
Three iconic parks in four days, perfect for first-timers or travelers short on time.

Overview

This is the trip for travelers who want the real thing without a long commitment. In four days you will cover three of northern Tanzania's most celebrated parks, each one distinct. Tarangire is where the elephants are, hundreds of them moving through ancient baobab woodland along the river. Ngorongoro Crater is a world of its own, a collapsed volcano floor packed with lions, buffalo, flamingos, and some of Tanzania's last black rhinos. Lake Manyara rounds it out with tree-climbing lions, hippo pools, and birdlife that makes the shoreline hum. Your days start early and end with sundowners back at your lodge in Mto Wa Mbu, a small town at the base of the Great Rift Valley escarpment.

This itinerary moves at a real pace, three game drives in three days, but the distances between parks are short, so you spend your time watching wildlife, not sitting in a vehicle. It is the most popular route for couples, solo travelers, and anyone adding a few safari days before or after Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport

The moment you step off your flight at Kilimanjaro International Airport, your Zuri guide is waiting with a warm Karibu and a cold towel. From there, it is a short drive to your first lodge in Arusha, where the rest of the day is yours. Settle in, breathe in the mountain air, and let the anticipation build. Tomorrow, the real adventure begins.

Day 2

Tarangire National Park

An early start from Arusha takes you southwest into Tarangire, where the landscape shifts to golden savanna dotted with massive baobab trees. This park is known for its elephant herds, some of the largest in Tanzania, and you will likely see them within the first hour.

Your guide follows the Tarangire River, where buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, and giraffe gather at the water's edge. Watch for lions resting in the shade and leopards tucked into tree branches. After a full day of game driving, you head to your lodge in the small town of Mto Wa Mbu at the base of the Rift Valley escarpment.

Day 3

Ngorongoro Crater

ou descend 600 meters into the floor of Ngorongoro Crater, a collapsed volcanic caldera and one of Africa's seven natural wonders. The crater is only 20 kilometers across, but it holds one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the continent. Lions, buffalo, zebra, hippos, and flamingos all share this enclosed world, and it is one of the few places in Tanzania where you have a real chance of spotting the endangered black rhino.

Your guide knows where they tend to rest. After a full morning and afternoon in the crater, you climb back out and return to your lodge in Mto Wa Mbu for your final evening.

Same accommodation as Day 2.
Day 4

Lake Manyara & Departure

Your last morning begins with a game drive through Lake Manyara National Park, a narrow strip of forest, grassland, and lakeshore pressed against the Rift Valley wall. Manyara is famous for its tree-climbing lions and enormous flocks of flamingos that turn the shallow lake pink. Baboons line the entrance road and elephants move through the groundwater forest. After the drive, your guide takes you back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure, or to your next destination if you are continuing to Zanzibar or Kilimanjaro.
